Sacked by Southampton back in November and quickly replace by Nathan Jones, Ralph Hasenhüttl is still without a job.

The Austrian has been linked with a number of clubs since then, but nothing has ever really come from it, leaving him without a job.

However, that could all quickly change, since Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg took to Twitter on Monday to reveal that Hasenhüttl is now a ‘top candidate’ to take over at TSG Hoffenheim.

The Bundesliga club currently sit 14th in the table after 19 games, and that was enough of a precarious situation to sack André Breitenreiter.

This appears to be the first real opportunity for the manager since his exit from Southampton, where he was manager for 173 games in all competitions.

He arrived in December of 2018 after a stint at RB Leipzig, and remained at St Mary’s for nearly four years until this season, when it was clear the situation needed a change.

Over that period at Southampton, the 55-year-old oversaw 60 wins, 38 draws and 75 defeats, using a grand total of 66 players.
