Liverpool have shown firm interest in Roméo Lavia and even made multiple bids, which were rejected by Southampton.

The Reds have now shifted their focus to Brighton & Hove Albion star Moisés Caicedo and are edging closer towards completing his signing.

Journalist Sacha Tavolieri took to Twitter to state Liverpool have agreed a deal with Brighton for the 21-year-old.

Having failed to find an agreement with Southampton for Lavia, it was expected Liverpool would make a decisive move for the Ecuador international. Tavolieri says ‘it happened’ in the last few hours.

Even though all parties expect the Brighton player to complete his move to Anfield soon, the journalist claims the transfer ‘seems unstable now’.

He warns about Chelsea making a last-minute improved bid for Caicedo as they have been chasing him throughout the window.

That’s unlikely to happen if Olé is to be believed. They state the South American is ‘hours away’ from becoming a new Liverpool player after Jürgen Klopp’s side agreed a $140m [£110m] deal with Brighton.

This operation will certainly please Caicedo’s former club, Independiente del Valle, who will be entitled to receive $28m [£22m] from his sale.
