Arsenal fans have been asking for news about Ricardo Rodriguez, and it seems their demands have been heard by Blick in Switzerland.
The newspaper have an article on their website about the Swiss left-back and his release clause situation, which is now non-existent.
Missing out on Champions League and Europa League for next season by finishing eighth in the Bundesliga, the German club have already admitted the player has made it clear he wants to leave for a bigger club.
Blick say Wolfsburg hanging on to one of their best players seems ‘impossible’, and with no release clause to meet, ‘the poker game for Rodriguez will begin’.
Previously standing at €25m, you would now expect the German side to hold out for more, but considering no one went for him when the clause was there, doing so would make no sense.
Having been linked with both Arsenal and Real Madrid in the past, the player was part of Switzerland’s side in the 2016 Euros, getting knocked out by Poland on penalties in the First Knockout Round.
The Swiss newspaper believe the player, having performed averagely last season for his club, would go for less than €25m, and Wolfsburg would have to live with that fact.
In fact, Blick even go as far as saying the fee could be ‘significantly lower’.
Good news for Arsenal, then?
