With the Brazilian League coming to an end last night, ESPN Brasil are today presenting their yearly award, called Bola de Prata.

Manchester United’s Andreas Pereira, who’s having a loan spell at Flamengo, won the prize for best goal of the season, but wasn’t named among the best midfielders.

The 25-year-old spoke to ESPN about the award, and of course was quizzed about the possibility of moving to the Rio de Janeiro side on a permanent transfer.

Even though Pereira’s loan from Manchester United runs until June, the player claims there’ll soon be talks with Flamengo officials so they can sort out a deal.

“My wish was always to stay here at Flamengo. And now we’re going to do everything. We’ll talk to president Landim and Marcos Braz to make this possible,” Andreas Pereira told ESPN.

It’s now impossible to speak about Pereira and not remember his mistake in the Copa Libertadores final, which cost Flamengo the title. Now the player claims he wants to stay to fight for the trophy again, even though the competition will only end in November, months after his loan spell would, in theory, expire.

“Of course, I have a feeling that I owe the fans a title. As I told them, they can count on me, I’ll do my best so that next year we can come out with these titles here.”

Flamengo and Manchester United agreed a buying option which is reported to be €15m or €20m. Still, the Brazilian side are expected to negotiate for a much smaller fee.
