So far, Tottenham’s decision to loan Tanguy Ndombélé to Napoli has been a mixed bag for both the player and the Serie A side.
He has yet to become a regular starter under Luciano Spalletti, which is what Spurs will have been looking for, but has had an impact on the game more than once.
The Tottenham loanee has shown flashes of brilliance here and there, but he has yet to find consistency, which was also a struggle of his in London.
That’s why he never managed to convince Antonio Conte, and why he was sent to Lyon during the second half of the last campaign, prior to this move to the south of Italy.
Still, there has been a mix of praise and criticism for his performances to date, and journalist Mimmo Malfitano revealed, relayed by Area Napoli, why that might be.
In the process, he also read out some messages he has received from Napoli fans about the Tottenham loanee.
He said: “Ndombélé has not yet expressed his full potential in Naples. The midfielder is struggling due to not yet being in optimal physical conditions. I am reading you some message that I am receiving these days. ‘Why don’t you go back to Tottenham?’, ‘Go back to England’. Obviously, the Azzurri supporters are not satisfied with the performances of the midfielder.”
Napoli currently have an option to make the loan permanent, but for them to do that and spend upwards of £25m on the midfielder, he will have to convince both the club and the fans.
