West Ham United appear to be closing in on a deal for defender Dan-Axel Zagadou, with the centre-back close to a move to England.

That’s according to Ruhr 24, who say Zagadou has ‘apparently found a new club’ after leaving Borussia Dortmund at the end of his contract this summer.

The website says the defender is now set to ‘sign on in England’ according to their information, although they don’t mention his new employers.

They are likely to be West Ham, though, with reports in France yesterday making it clear that they were leading the race for his signature.

Initially it was claimed they were competing with Lyon for the defender but that was later denied, with it made clear West Ham were out in front and negotiating a four-year deal with the 23-year-old.

It seems that deal is now close to being completed and the Hammers will get their man, unless they’ve been trumped at the last minute by another, unnamed, Premier League rival.
