Weekend claims from an English tabloid that David Wagner is being ‘seriously considered’ by Borussia Dortmund to be their next manager will have caused some annoyance among Huddersfield Town fans.

When they see such claims coming from the English media, it’s easy to think it’s not watertight.

Dortmund are a German club, Wagner is a German manager, if there was a genuine attempt afoot to appoint the Huddersfield boss at BVB then it’s much likelier leaks would go to the German media.

The claims have made it to Bild, a German tabloid and the biggest selling newspaper in Europe. They have done a little digging and been able to dismiss the story completely.

Bild state they’ve learned Wagner is currently ‘not an issue’ at Dortmund, and there’s no return on the cards for the 46 year old.

That doesn’t rule out any Dortmund interest in the Huddersfield Town manager forever, but with regards to these latest claims it’s clear Bild have been informed there’s absolutely nothing in them.
