Out with Portugal’s national team for the upcoming rounds of Euro qualifiers, Manchester City defender Ruben Dias has held a press conference at their camp.

Despite most of the questions being about international football, the player was also asked about the transfer window that has just passed.

Quoted by Record, Dias first talked about the possibility of Bernardo Silva leaving Manchester City.

“Only the future will tell and I don’t think this is the right time for that,” said Silva.

The defender then commented on the arrival of Matheus Nunes, who was signed from Wolverhampton Wanderers in a €62m deal.

“I’m very happy and we’re all happy that another Portuguese player has joined Manchester City, which today is one of the best clubs in the world, I’m happy for him but above all, as a Portuguese, I’m very happy that another player has the opportunity to be in this context.”

Dias was also quizzed about players who have been leaving European football for Saudi Arabia, and whether they arrive at the national team in worse form.

“I’ve already commented on it. It’s still clear to me that the most competitive football in the world is still in Europe, but there has obviously been an increase in quality in Arabia, simply because of the players who have gone there. To be honest, I don’t follow the football, I’ve only seen one or two games, I don’t have enough knowledge. But for me, the most competitive football in the world today is still in Europe.”

Portugal will be facing Slovakia and Luxemburg in these rounds of the Euro qualifiers. They currently stand safe on top of Group J with four wins in four games.

Ruben Dias missed a couple of games for Manchester City at the start of the season, but is now back in his place, having started their last three Premier League games. There, he also stands on top of the table.
