In his 35th appearance for SC Braga this season, fullback Yan Couto scored his first goal for the club at the weekend, and has a couple of newspapers writing about him today.

Since he’s having a convincing loan spell at the Portuguese side, the subject from both stories is the same: The unlikely chances of a permanent move from Manchester City at the end of the season.

The 19-year-old was loaned by the Premier League side last summer, and the agreement did not include a buying option for Braga.

Newspaper Record points out that the Minhotos even tried to include a clause in the deal. Manchester City, however, have ‘great trust’ in the player and turned down that possibility.

It’s said Pep Guardiola’s side want to have Yan Couto back in the squad in the summer and then evaluate if he should be kept at the club.

Also speaking of the player, O Jogo writes that despite having a great time at Braga, Yan Couto will ‘hardly continue’ at the club for the next season.

It’s said Manchester City are not willing to give up on him and that’s why they turned down any chances of including a purchase option in his loan deal.

The Citizens signed Yan Couto in a €6m deal from Coritiba in the summer of 2020. They first loaned him out to Girona and then to Braga.

His contract with the Premier League side runs until 2025.
