With Saint Etienne set to face Manchester United at Old Trafford on Thursday evening, the club are big news in the French media. It’s not only Florentin Pogba being interviewed, with L’Equipe also speaking to Romain Hamouma.
Hamouna is a 29 year old right winger, and he signed for ASSE in 2012 from Caen. So far this season he’s managed 7 goals and three assists, not bad for a player who hasn’t started every match for his club.
“As a kid, I was a fan, of English football and those often winning. I was fond of the Arsenal matches, because there were a lot of Frenchmen and they were winning. Afterwards, my adolescence at the Sochaux training centre corresponds with
the emergence of Cristiano Ronaldo in this fantastic club that is Manchester. And it was true that it made me want. Like the Old Trafford stadium, that’s why I’m so happy to be there.”
Hamouna was then asked if he’d had dreams of playing for Manchester United, and of course the winger again gave a positive response.
“I dreamed of going professional. That’s the hardest bit. Then, like everyone else, I dreamed of playing at such a club.”
The dream has probably gone now for Hamouna, but he’s still got the chance to play at Old Trafford, in what he believes will be one of the most important matches of his career.
