Newcastle United star Moussa Sissoko has been speaking to French newspaper L’Equipe about his future at the Championship club.

Sissoko revealed he had discussions with Rafael Benitez, who has given him permission to leave the club.

The French midfielder was asked about the interest of Real Madrid, to which he responded: “That’s flattering. Who would not be flattered by the interest of one the best clubs in the world, if not the best?”

The Frenchman also admitted it’d be a dream to play for a club like Real Madrid or Manchester United.

He added: “It’s simple when you’re young and you start playing football, your dream is to become a professional and play in a club like Real Madrid or Manchester United.

“Today I worked my way up, everything goes well and if a club like Real Madrid comes to me, it will be something huge.”

L’Equipe believe Newcastle want €40m for Sissoko, who has another three years left on his contract at St.James’ Park.

There’s suggestion of Manchester United interest in Sissoko, and he’ll have to hope Zinedine Zidane pushes Madrid to do a deal.
