Bought last January from Molde, David Datro Fofana only made four small appearances for Chelsea, totalling 112 minutes of football.

He is clearly one for the future, and therefore will need to go somewhere next season to get regular game time as Foot Mercato explain there are a lot of suitors ready to give him a go.

The French website explain that Lille, Strasbourg, OGC Nice and Augsburg all ‘want the player’, who has a contract at Chelsea until 2029.

The Ivorian does have a preference, and that is a move to the south of France, as he has also been able to ‘exchange on the phone’ with some of the hierarchy at the Ligue 1 club.

Nice are said to be following the Chelsea striker ‘for six months’, but they also will have to be careful with the new link created between the Blues and Strasbourg, as Todd Boehly tries to emulate the City Group by putting together a collection of clubs.

Down Lille’s end, they are expecting to have to replace Jonathan David at some point in the future, and could turn their attention to Fofana to achieve that short-term as they look for a long-term solution.
