Lazio star Sergej Milinković-Savić has been linked with to Manchester United during the past few summer windows.
Apart from the Red Devils, other clubs, namely Paris Saint-Germain, have been credited with an interest in the midfielder.
However, Manchester United, PSG or any other club were not able to take him away from the Serie A side. These two sides continue to be named as the 27-year-old’s suitors for the next window, since Lazio are open to letting him leave the club after this season.
Earlier this week, Lazio chairman Claudio Lotito told Rai Sport he rejected an ‘indecent offer of €140m’ for the Serbia international. The chief also admitted he is ready to let the player leave, provide the latter is keen to make the jump in the summer.
The Italian club’s chairman didn’t specify when he received this ‘indecent offer’ or who submitted it. TuttoMercatoWeb claim ‘everything suggests’ it was Manchester United who made that €140m bid, a ‘couple of seasons ago’.
It is highly unlikely the Red Devils made a €140m offer for the Serbian. This doesn’t sound realistic and there aren’t any concrete reports suggesting the Premier League side [or anyone else for that matter] have tabled such a high bid for Milinković-Savić.
It feels like Lotito is setting up the stage for the upcoming window, so that Lazio can earn around €70m from the player’s sale. Manchester United are reportedly still in the picture.
TMW explain the Old Trafford club will ‘return for him’ in the summer. This claim is backed up Italian agent Giuseppe Bozzo [not Milinković-Savić’s agent].
“Milinković-Savić could be a Juve blow like Cristiano Ronaldo, Higuain, De Ligt, Vlahovic were. He is the missing midfielder and Juventus have some of the most important and solid economic potential in the world. But watch out for Manchester United,” Bozzo told Tuttosport, relayed by Calciomercato.it.
