In the past couple of months, reports from the Italian media labelled Manchester City as one of the potential suitors for Atalanta defender Giorgio Scalvini.
It was claimed that Pep Guardiola’s side were keeping an eye on the youngster, with the Serie A side already thinking of protecting him, setting an amount of €20m for a possible sale.
Scalvini himself publicly admitted he’d been ignoring the rumours which linked him to Manchester City and other clubs, and it seems this stance is now taken by his agent as well.
Today, Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb features an interview with TMP Soccer’s Fausto Pari, who manages the player’s career. There, he basically claimed that the youngster has no interest in leaving Atalanta now.
“Far be it from him to think about going away,” Pari told TuttoMercatoWeb.
TuttoMercatoWeb then asked the agent about what would happen in case Atletico Madrid or Manchester City arrive to sign him. Pari kept the same position, sounding very calm about the situation.
“He will go to Atalanta and decide what to do, in the eventuality, at the moment everything is very premature. He must feel comfortable, train, commit himself, give everything he has on the pitch, wherever he is deployed.”
Now in case Manchester City wonder if the player will be a defender or a midfielder, the agent also talked about that.
“He was born a defender, he also admitted it, then it is clear that he has the technical qualities to play other roles. Last year, at Roma, he was employed as a midfielder to face Milinkovic-Savic because they have a similar structure.
“Scalvini is versatile, he can play in several roles. The natural one is the defender, it will depend on the Atalanta coach and the coach who has him on hand every day.”
