Everton and Tottenham look set to miss out on Valencia youngster Facundo Gonzalez after becoming interested in him during the U20 World Cup.
That’s according to Tutto Juve, who have spoken to journalist Salva Gomis regarding the 20-year-old Uruguayan centre-back.
Gonzalez has been with Valencia since joining from Espanyol’s Youth side in July 2019 and has been a regular for them since, making 37 appearances for the Mestalla team over the last few years.
He’s also been a regular for Uruguay’s U20 set up since making his debut in September last year, racking up 22 appearances in that time.
That, according to Gomis, earned him attention from the Premier League, where Everton and Tottenham were thinking about possible moves.
“Yes, Facu had a lot of interest from Serie A and Premier League teams: Milan, Salernitana, Sampdoria, Everton, Tottenham,” he said.
“What attracted the most attention was his performance at the U20 World Cup, he was one of the best of the continental review.
“He wants to leave (Valencia) because he doesn’t feel the full trust of the club. Other central defenders such as Mosquera and Gasiorowski have been promoted, but now an agreement has finally been reached that will benefit all parties involved.
“I don’t know what Juventus’ plans for Facu will be. It will depend on Juve’s commitment, but I have high hopes for this talented young U20 world champion. Bielsa has already called him up on one occasion for the national team.”
