A few weeks ago, we looked at the situation surrounding Rachid Ghezzal at Lyon, who so happened to be a target for Everton last summer.
The problem for the Ligue 1 club now is that Ghezzal still hasn’t extended his contract, and with his current deal expiring in the summer, he’s currently available on a free.
Barely impacting Bruno Génésio’s team this season, with just two goals in 32 appearances for Lyon, the forward’s stock has dropped considerably since the last campaign, but on a free, he’s still worth gambling on.
And, according to RMC Sport, that is exactly what Everton are looking to do, as the French outlet revealed on Thursday evening that Ronald Koeman is ‘hoping to bring him in at the end of the season’.
However, with a lot of reports of interest from Spain with Sevilla and Monaco in Ligue 1, he could be in with a tough time convincing him to move to Merseyside, what with the other two likely to be able to offer Champions League football next season.
This one doesn’t appear to be dead just yet.
