Earlier today, we’ve covered the news from Brazil saying Everton could soon make a bid for Flamengo wonderkid Reinier.
Globo Esporte claimed that on a trip to Europe, officials from the Brazilian side have met the Toffees, who ‘signalled’ they could soon offer €40m for the midfielder.
Reinier is seen as one of the best prospects in Brazilian football, so the local media made some big noise about the news.
And some interesting information comes from journalist Victor Gammaro. He says nothing has come to the player’s staff so far, since Everton have only spoken to the Flamengo officials.
In football, things normally happen the other way around, with the agents speaking to the interested club and then delivering the offer to the selling side.
In this case, we better wait and see what Reinier’s response to the offer would be. The 17-year-old has been linked to the likes of Manchester City and Real Madrid, so perhaps a move to Goodison Park wasn’t part of his plans.
