On a new scouting mission in Portugal at the weekend, Everton have reportedly watched Sporting’s 8-1 win over Belenenses.
Several outlets, including Record, report the Toffees’ visit to Lisbon on Sunday, although none of them seems to know who the officials were watching.
Sporting’s big win was certainly enjoyable to see, especially for the display of some players, especially Bruno Fernandes, who scored a hat-trick.
The Sporting captain, who now has 31 goals this season, was even linked to Everton in January, but the possibility of joining the Toffees was reported as not very exciting for the player.
Midfielders Raphinha and Nemanja Gudelj and striker Luiz Phellype also had a great performance which may have caught the scouts’ eyes.
Now another performance which deserves some attention was Bas Dost’s. The Dutch striker is back playing after being sidelined for two months, and scored one of Sporting’s goals.
He’s been linked to a summer exit, and back on Friday, newspaper A Bola said the Premier League is a destination he would fancy a move to. Since Sporting don’t seem very keen on holding him, maybe he’s a good option for Everton’s attack in the next season.
