The Brazilian media continues to name Everton as one of the strongest competitors for the signing of David Neres from Ajax.

This weekend, it was journalist Jorge Nicola, from Yahoo, who claimed the Toffees are one of the clubs who have opened talks to sign the 22-year-old.

It’s said that along with Roma and Borussia Dortmund, Everton have contacted Ajax to start the negotiations for the player.

Nicola claims that Neres is not leaving the Dutch side for less than €50m, and with the club having a great campaign in the Champions League, his price is only expected to go up.

The story’s main focus is the money that São Paulo can make with the transfer. The Brazilian club are getting 23% of a move, and in case Neres really goes for €50m, then they get the same €12m as when selling Neres to Ajax in 2017.

This is not the first time the Brazilian media links Neres to Everton, and UOL have been saying that his agents’ good relationship with the Toffees could help a move to Goodison Park.
