The race for the Boca Juniors midfielder Agustín Almendra seems to have grown in the past week.

Claims from England saying Manchester City are following the player received big coverage in South America, and now, the Italian media reveals that there are several more clubs interested in him.

Website Calcio Mercato claims that Inter Milan, Juventus and Napoli are all starting making moves to know the conditions for a deal.

They add that Manchester City also have Almendra as a target, and manager Pep Guardiola ‘has been struck by his great talent’.

Almendra is said to be protected by a €20m release clause, and Inter Milan, the Italian side closest to making a bid, are trying to lower Boca Juniors’ demands.

So it sounds that if Manchester City want to pay for the player’s release clause, then they should have no trouble to win the competition against Italian sides.
