With James Rodriguez apparently in Qatar to negotiate his departure from Everton, we now get a few more updates from the Colombian media on this case.
Journalist Pipe Sierra, who’s been following the situation, brings more details on what’s been going on with the 30-year-old.
He now claims Everton have ‘given their approval’ regarding the transfer, adding that it could even be a loan move.
Meanwhile, ‘everything depends’ on Rodriguez. He’s said to be in Qatar ‘to see if he’s convinced and accepts the salary conditions’. Sierra makes it clear that nothing is done yet, and the local transfer window closes on the 30th of September.
Earlier today, the same journalist claimed that the Everton star had his medicals in Dubai and then flew to Qatar to negotiate personal terms. Even though the club isn’t revealed, he’s been told ‘it could be’ Al Rayyan.
The French media has been on board with this version as well, as Foot Mercato wrote today that the talks are on for the midfielder’s move to the Qatari club. There he’d be managed by Laurent Blanc.
Rodriguez’s contract with Everton expires in 2022, but since there’s an option for an extension in the club’s hands, that would be a fair possibility in case a loan is confirmed.
