Everton midfielder Jean Philippe Gbamin ‘wants to leave England for good’ this summer and ‘would like to return’ to the Bundesliga.

That’s according to BILD, who say his agent has confirmed the midfielder would like to move back to the Bundesliga after his successful spell at Mainz.

Gbamin has been at Everton since a €25m move from Mainz in August 2019 but has only managed eight appearances in total for the club in four years after a series of injuries under successive managers.

He’s spent the last two seasons out on loan away from Goodison Park, joining CSKA Moscow in February 2022 before then spending this season with Trabzonspor.

Playing time was again a hard thing to come by for him as he manager 24 appearances across the campaign but only 1182 minutes of football and only eight starts in 23 in the league.

He’s now returned to Everton, but it’s been made clear he wants to move on permanently and BILD confirm as much.

They say he ‘wants to leave England for good’ and ‘would like to return’ to the Bundesliga, where he spent three years with Mainz and was highly thought of before his move to Goodison Park.

The latter part is information ‘according to his advisor’ and it now remains to be seen if he and Everton can find a deal to suit all parties.
