With Idrissa Gana Gueye officially now a Paris Saint Germain player, Everton need to move quickly to find a replacement.

Gueye has left a considerable hole in Everton’s midfield and finding a replacement will be essential before the transfer window deadline on August 8th.

Earlier reports have suggested the Blues have several players on their list of targets and Jean-Philippe Gbamin is a name that has continually shown up. In fact, recent reports indicated that they were closing in on the midfielder.

Fussballtransfers first reported the Blues interest in the 23-year-old, and they now say that the deal is ‘almost’ done.

They back up their first claim that he will be moving to Goodison Park in a €35m deal and that he is ‘close’ to completing the move.

In fact, it seems his current club Mainz are confident of things being done sooner rather than later as they are already lining up replacements for their man.

That suggests a deal is close to being done and Everton will have their replacement for Gueye sooner rather than later.
