Sami Khedira has failed to convince Andrea Pirlo to include him in his plans for this season and hasn’t featured for Juventus this campaign.

The Old Lady are trying to offload the midfielder in the ongoing window in order to lower their wage bill. Everton have been regularly linked with the 33-year-old in the past few months.

On New Year’s Eve, Corriere dello Sport reported the Toffees are in ‘pole position’ to sign the German, who has already expressed his desire to play in the Premier League.

The Merseyside club have been pushed forward as an interested party because Khedira has already trained under the orders of Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti, when the duo were at Real Madrid.

Ancelotti, however, has cooled the recent rumours.

“Khedira at Everton? No, no. At the moment we have a competitive squad,” Ancelotti told Rai’s program Radio Anch’io Sport, as relayed by Calciomercato.it.

“We have important players out, like Allan, but they will recover very quickly. We made the investments in June [summer] and those are enough.”

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur are also credited with an interest in Khedira as he has played under José Mourinho at Real Madrid.
