“We don’t need to talk about that” – Player bemoans Liverpool options after defeat, ‘allowed to dream’ for almost an hour

LASK midfielder Robert Zulj has bemoaned Liverpool’s strength in depth after their defeat to the Reds in the Europa League last night.

The midfielder was speaking to Sky Sports Austria after the game, which saw Liverpool run out 3-1 winners in their opening group game.

The Reds had found themselves surprisingly behind after just 14 minutes against the Austrian side, with a goal from Florian Flecker putting the home side in front.

They were ‘allowed to dream’ for ‘almost an hour’ after that strike say Sky, as Liverpool toiled to find an equaliser but could not do so.

However, the ‘sensation’ of a win against the Premier League and European giants failed to materialise as they proved to be ‘too tough a challenge’ for the home side.

They held out until the 56^th minute when a penalty from Darwin Nunez levelled the scores before subsequent goals from Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah secure a 3-1 win.

Salah was one of several stars brought off the bench by manager Jurgen Klopp, with Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai also being introduced to help change the course of the game.

That was something Zulj bemoaned after the game, hinting it was that strength in depth that did for him and his teammates.

“If they substitute Salah and Szoboszlai in the 60th and 70th, it will be difficult for us. We don’t need to talk about that,” he said after the game.

“In the end, their individual quality is too great,” added defender Philipp Ziereis, with Sky Sports adding that ‘the view must be forward’ for the Austrians.
