Sunderland are on the verge of announcing the signing of a Paris Saint-Germain player.

The Black Cats, who recently lost Alex Neil as their manager, will welcome Edouard Michu for the season, loaning the 19-year-old with an option to buy.

There were a few hiccups in the final stages of the negotiations, but it was reported on Tuesday night that the Ligue 1 champions and Sunderland had kickstarted talks again and there was hope the deal would get done.

Well, in a final update from L’Equipe, it’s made clear the player ‘will sign on loan with an option to buy’, starting their article with ‘it’s done’.

The midfielder had even returned to France, having previously travelled to England to undergo a medical, but he barely had time to settle down again before he was recalled to complete the move to Sunderland.

Either way, despite the little blip in the middle, which was reportedly due to Paris Saint-Germain wanting a buy-back clause should the move be made permanent, Michu is headed to the Stadium of Light.

It will be under a new manager, though, as Sunderland appointed Tony Mowbray as their new manager late on Tuesday.
