It appears the official announcement of Anwar El Ghazi’s transfer from Aston Villa to PSV Eindhoven is right around the corner.

We know this because Voetbal International are reporting that the 27-year-old ‘passed the medical examination’ on Wednesday, and has signed for three years.

Aston Villa, who had little use for the Dutch winger, agreed to sell him for ‘approximately €2.5m’, and the Eredivisie side then sorted out personal details with the player himself.

Brought in as a ‘replacement for Noni Madueke’, out with an injury, the forward is now set to play in the Netherlands once again, last featuring for Ajax in 2017 before he headed to Lille in France.

Out of Steven Gerrard’s squad for the first five games of the campaign, it was clear he wasn’t in Aston Villa’s plans for the season, which is why they decided to cash in on him with one year left on his contract.

El Ghazi was loaned to Everton for the second half of the previous campaign, but even that didn’t go to plan, as he featured just twice for a rather embarrassing grand total of 11 minutes of football.
