Tottenham Hotspur’s Pierre-Emile Højbjerg hasn’t enjoyed regular playing time under Ange Postecoglou and has been restricted to seven substitute appearances in the league this season.
The midfielder’s situation at the north London club has seen him linked to Juventus, who are looking to strengthen the same position in January.
Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli has identified the 28-year-old as a target, after much pressure from the club’s local media and potentially the player’s agents.
Calciomercato.it state there are ‘no shortage of pitfalls’ for the Serie A side to take him away from Tottenham.
Juve are looking to sign him on loan without an obligation to buy. It’s claimed Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has no intention to release the player under this condition and will only let him leave on a permanent transfer for €30m.
This season, Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma have been the first-choice midfielders at Spurs. The duo will miss the start of next year due to their participation in AFCON and this would allow the Dane to have more minutes.
Another obstacle Juve will face to sign Højbjerg is the competition from Atlético Madrid. The report states the Italian club could miss out on this transfer if Los Rojiblancos decide to buy him.
These are the ‘obstacles’ Giuntoli and Juventus will face in their efforts to sign the Spurs player in January.
