Besiktas board member Erdal Torunogullari has confirmed Loris Karius has made a complaint to FIFA over unpaid wages and the German now wants to terminate his loan contract with the Super Lig side
Last week we covered reports from the Turkish press that the goalkeeper wants to leave the Istanbul club before the season restarts and Torunogullari has told the Turkish media this is the case.
Speaking on Instagram, as covered by A Spor, the Besiktas director said the Liverpool loanee is causing problems for his club: “Karius has gone to FIFA over his unpaid wages and termination of his contract. He wants us to pay him for the months he hasn’t played. He wants to leave, and that’s his decision. We don’t want to make an undeserved payment.”
He’s had a turbulent spell with Besiktas since arriving from Liverpool on a two-year loan deal in 2018 and there were reports during the last window they were looking to offload him.
Karius is likely to return to Liverpool but it seems the 26 year old will need to find a new club to play for next season.
