This month, we’ve seen some controversy regarding Chelsea’s recent signing Andrey Santos.

Following his sale to the Blues in January, Vasco da Gama didn’t pay the player for his share of the transfer. And even though he’s now loaned back to the Brazilian side, the 18-year-old and his staff reportedly sued the club. That’s why it was now uncertain whether he’d continue playing for them once he returns from the U-20 World Cup.

This situation was now clarified by Vasco director Paulo Bracks. He held a press conference (via UOL) and claimed that Andrey will be back at the club soon.

“Andrey returns to Vasco as soon as the U-20 World Cup ends. I don’t have internal knowledge that there’s a lawsuit against Vasco. I didn’t question the player or the athlete’s staff. I don’t see a bad mood for him to return”.

Andrey’s loan at Vasco runs until the end of June. Then he’s set to return to Chelsea and start working with the Blues, as long as he finally gets the work permit for that.

The midfielder and his staff were supposed to receive 30% of the fee paid by the Blues following the €12.5m deal.

Now with him returning to Vasco after the U-20 World Cup, he’s set to have a second chance at a farewell before packing his bags to move to Chelsea for good.
