Having returned to Celtic Park after his loan spell at Aberdeen, Liam Scales has managed to secure a place for himself at Celtic this season. He’s made 18 appearances in all competitions for Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Anderlecht have to consider bolstering the centre-back position in the next two windows. That’s according to Het Laatste Nieuws, who state they have identified the Celtic player as one of the targets.

Zeno Debast and Jan Vertonghen are the first-choice pair this season and their long-term futures at Anderlecht are uncertain.

Therefore, the Jupiler Pro League side are looking for a player who could initially provide cover and then replace one of them in the near future. This is where Scales would fit in and the report states the Belgium club have been closely monitoring him in action for Celtic.

The Republic of Ireland international could be a bargain for Anderlecht as it’s claimed he is valued at around €2m, although Celtic may have something to say about that stance.

The 25-year-old is a permanent figure in Brendan Rodgers’ starting lineup at Celtic. Due to this, HLN state Anderlecht will find it ‘difficult to poach him’ in the winter market.

As well as Scales, Anderlecht are also looking at Leicester City’s Jannik Vestergaard and Viborg’s Nicolas Bürgy.
