AS Roma are hoping to make some money this summer from the players they currently have out on loan.

They have players such as Pau Lopez, Cengiz Under, Justin Kluivert and Alessandro Florenzi out on loan and feel they can earn a reasonable amount by selling them.

There’s also Robin Olsen, who has been spending the second half of the season at Aston Villa, with the Birmingham club having an option to sign him permanently. Prior to that he was on loan at Sheffield United, but swapped that for the Premier League in January.

So far he’s made no appearances, but that was likely to be the case given Emi Martinez is clearly the first choice stopper for Steven Gerrard.

Gazzetta dello Sport report that it’s ‘difficult to imagine’ Aston Villa going through with the permanent transfer, even for the cut-price of €2m.

That could be questioned.

Olsen was always signed to be the reserve and must have known that when he arrived. Should Gerrard and the coaching team at Villa feel the Sweden international has shown enough in training then there’s every chance they’d think €2m is a low fee for an experienced back-up.

More may depend on whether the 32-year-old wants to continue sitting on the bench in the longer term.
