Tottenham are yet to make a definitive decision on whether to sign Dejan Kulusevski on a permanent basis from Juventus but ‘developments are expected shortly’ on the matter.
That’s according to Calciomercato, who say the likelihood is that Tottenham ‘will try to review’ the agreement they have with the Italian side and get a ‘discount’ on the previously agreed figures.
They explain that Juventus had been fearing they would miss out on the figure for Kulusevski, who has been on loan at Tottenham since January last year.
Any decision on him won’t be made until the ‘internal revolution’ at Tottenham, that is the search for a new director of football and a new manager, has been solved and Juventus are waiting for that to happen.
Spurs are likely to look for a discount on the figures agreed, though, having already spent €10m on an 18-month loan and a redemption price set at €35m.
That would have been an obligation if they had qualified for the Champions League but that didn’t happen, and it is now simply an option.
Tottenham will instead ‘try to review’ that agreement and secure a lower price to pay as there is still a place for Kulusevski in their plans moving forwards.
Their idea could be to convince Juve to allow them to accept a more lenient deal, which would perhaps see part of the fixed amount turned into bonuses instead, thus bringing down the up-front figure they’d need to pay.
