German newspaper Bild have reported on Hamburg’s situation with several players out of contract in the summer.
Reported Manchester City target Tatsuya Ito is one of those being highlighted, which could present an opportunity.
Tatsuya’s agent recently confirmed to Hamburger Morgenpost they are in talks with Hamburg to extend his stay with the club, but as yet there’s been no breakthrough.
Bild say Ito will continue to hold discussions, but there’s likely to be some concern they could go into January with this not resolved. Manchester City will be able to speak to the Japanese attacker about a move to the Etihad next summer, and even get him to sign a pre contract agreement.
Ito signed for Hamburg two seasons ago, and at the time Manchester City were also trying to sign the 20 year old. Manchester City came in with an offer for the forward, but he took the decision to head to Germany.
However, the German media recently reported Manchester City are still showing an interest in Ito, and they could look to land him on a free next summer. It’s unclear whether the more recent claims of City interest are to pressure Hamburg over a renewal, but if the interest is genuine, the contract situation is increasingly bright for the Premier League club.
