Former Tottenham Hotspur forward Peter Crouch has revealed his White Hart Lane teammate Beniot Assou-Ekotto didn’t have much interest in football despite being a decent player.

Speaking to FourFourTwo, Crouch was asked about his time at Tottenham, and having to play alongside Ekotto: “He was very different. He hated playing football, even though he was good at it. One time I was sat in the players’ lounge before kick-off, and he came over asking which team we were playing today.”

Crouch spent three seasons at Tottenham, and will be best remembered by the fans for his goal against Manchester City, which clinched them a Champions League play-off spot. The former England international played 73 league games for Tottenham before moving to Stoke City in 2011.
