As they often do, Tuttosport have an article on Emre Can in their Monday edition. Being a Turin sport newspaper focusing mainly on Juventus, Can has been the subject of many claims from the newspaper over the past few months.

On Monday it’s stated the Liverpool midfielder is Juventus’ number one target ahead of next summer, when it’s believed he could leave Liverpool on a free transfer. Tuttosport aren’t giving much hope to the idea of Liverpool selling him in the January window.

However, it’s stated that even in the last summer window, Juventus had been prepared to pay Liverpool €25m plus a further €5m in bonuses, making a total deal of €30m. Tuttosport say that shows ‘belief’ in the potential transfer, and the player, and the whole thing isn’t just motivated by the chance of freebie.

Jurgen Klopp is in control of the situation, and if he says Can stays at Liverpool in January, regardless of contract situation, then it’s difficult to see the club’s board ignoring that sentiment.

The closer the summer comes, the more worrying Can’s contract situation is. With a deal ending in June, the German international is free to negotiate with other clubs from January onwards.

Liverpool are in a difficult situation with Can, and the club look set to gamble on a renewal, even if that doesn’t come before the key January negotiating time.
