Spanish giants Real Madrid are growing increasingly despondent that they failed to beat Tottenham to the signing of Pedro Porro last season.
That’s according to Bernabeu Digital, who say Madrid are regretting not pushing for the Spanish full-back when they had the chance last year.
The website explains that while Madrid maintain the philosophy of having the best players in every position under Florentino Pérez, sometimes they can’t always do that, and it was the case with Porro last year.
They were keen to sign the full-back from Sporting Club de Portugal and it seems likely he would end up at the Santiago Bernabéu in a €40m deal, a figure which could be considered ‘a not very high amount’ considering the current state of the market.
That’s worked out well for them as he’s been shining ever since and is now ‘one of the best right backs in the world’ according to BD.
They say his performances for Tottenham have been ‘spectacular’, particularly this season, where he has six assists in just 15 games. That’s something they say is even more impressive as he’s ‘not in one of the best clubs in Europe’.
They clearly think he is good enough to play for Real Madrid and wish they had made their move, but for now believe any chance of him joining them is ‘a thing of the past’, which we’re sure Tottenham fans will be glad to hear.
