While it’s well known that Chelsea are interested in signing Elye Wahi from Montpellier to potential then loan him out to RC Strasbourg, there is another Premier League club on the case.

That’s according to L’Equipe, who reveal at the end of an article on the youngster’s transfer situation that Crystal Palace have made the first move.

With Strasbourg now managed by Patrick Vieira, who left the Eagles last season, it wouldn’t be surprising for the London club’s scouting department to have reports on Wahi, and perhaps that’s where it all started.

That’s just us speculating, but L’Equipe claim that Crystal Palace have ‘invited themselves into the talks’ regarding a transfer for the forward, who scored 19 goals in 33 league goals last season.

In fact, both they and Atlético Madrid have made a ‘verbal offer’ to the French club, although the amounts of these bids have yet to be revealed.

Therefore, with Chelsea, Crystal Palace and the La Liga side all fighting over the player, we’ll have to wait and see what happens, but the ‘next few days are going to be decisive’.

That’s what L’Equipe say, adding that the player, still on holiday, hopes to come back from his time off to be able to ‘get back to training next week with his new club’.
