Back in August, it appeared that West Ham were looking for a new midfielder, one capable of helping out the rather depleted area of the squad at David Moyes’ disposal.

One of the recurring names for a few weeks was that of Jean-Ricner Bellegarde, who currently plays for Strasbourg in France.

The 22-year-old has slowly but surely made himself a name in Ligue 1, to the point where West Ham have now been joined by Crystal Palace in their pursuit of the player.

That’s according to Foot Mercato, who report as an exclusive on Tuesday that both the Hammers and the Eagles are taking an interest in the midfielder for the January transfer window.

The French website state ‘multiple clubs have taken information’ regarding a potential move in the coming weeks, with both Crystal Palace and West Ham ‘getting closer to the player’s entourage in order to find out his intentions’.

Bellegarde isn’t in a rush it seems, as Foot Mercato explain he’s currently ‘thinking about the best solution for the future of his career’.

We’ll have to see if that includes playing for either Roy Hodgson or Moyes, and it could end up being about who has the most convincing arguments.
