It appears that any hope FC Twente had of signing Facundo Pellistri from Manchester United has now disappeared.

This comes from De Telegraaf in the Netherlands, who look at the business the Eredivisie side could do between now and the end of the transfer window.

We must recall that multiple people associated with Twente explained that Manchester United’s manager, Erik ten Hag, was the one who recommended the Uruguay international to his former club.

However, the fact that the Red Devils are currently light up top and cannot afford anyone else for the time being has forced the Dutchman to use Pellistri more than first thought.

This led to some at Twente feeling a deal with Manchester United would be harder to come by, and De Telegraaf make that clear.

They state that while the club were trying to sign Carel Eiting, Mitchell van Bergen and Facundo Pellistri, neither have come in, and the latter, meaning the Red Devils player, ‘can now definitely be crossed off the list’.

The 21-year-old, while he hasn’t started a game for Manchester United this season to date, has come off the bench in both games against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Tottenham.
