‘Crisis’ meeting has been held at Carrington – Manchester United situation has ‘become tense’

Manchester United sealed a comfortable 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on Wednesday.

Erik ten Hag’s men dominated the full 90 minutes, while Cristiano Ronaldo watched most of the match from the bench.

The Manchester United forward left the pitch before the referee blew the full-time whistle. Late on Wednesday, AS stated the Red Devils will penalise the 37-year-old.

That’s what happened on Thursday when the Premier League side confirmed the Portugal international will not be part of the squad to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge tomorrow.

Today’s edition of AS explains the former Real Madrid star is expected to pay an ‘economic fine’ for his behaviour against Tottenham.

AS claim, according to their own information, that the decision to drop Ronaldo for the clash against Chelsea was taken during a ‘small crisis’ meeting that took place at Carrington. 

They further add the ‘delicate situation’ between the player and Manchester United has ‘become tense’ in recent weeks.

Ten Hag is likely to be quizzed about the player’s situation at the club during the pre-match press conference later today.
