Coventry City are reportedly in talks for the signing of Standard Liege striker Denis Dragus.

Journalist Sacha Tavolieri is the one claiming discussions are ‘ongoing’ for the 24-year-old to join the Championship side.

That doesn’t mean a deal is very close, though, because according to the report, a full agreement isn’t expected before the weekend.

It’s claimed that Standard Liege are expected to make up to €1.5m with Dragus’ transfer to Coventry City.

The striker, who’s belonged to the Belgian side since 2019, has actually spent the past few months in Italy.

He started the last season at Standard Liege, and in January, moved to Genoa on a loan deal. It turns out he didn’t have many chances to prove himself in Serie B, making only five appearances, with a total of 64 minutes, and not scoring any goals.

So for Coventry City to be interested in him right now, they surely have some references of what he’s done for the Belgian club and the Romanian national team in the past.

According to Tavolieri, the player wouldn’t be against staying at Liege for another season. He has a contract there until 2024.
