Leeds United have struggled in the Premier League this season and have managed only five wins from 25 matches.

Their poor run saw the Whites sack Jesse Marsch on February 5th, days after the January window closed.

Javi Gracia was appointed as his successor later that month and has helped Leeds pick up three points from two league games. They were 17th in the table when Marsch left and are currently in the same position.

The English club signed Maximilian Wöber from Red Bull Salzburg in the winter market. The move saw him reunite with Marsch for a short time as he played under the American at the Austrian club between 2019 and 2021.

Wöber ‘regrets’ Marsch’s exit from Leeds, especially since the manager was vital in his decision to move to Elland Road.

“Of course, I miss Jesse. I made this move because he was keen to bring me to Leeds. But that’s the business of football, everything can change. If the successes don’t come, the coach is the first to vacate the pitch,” he told Sky Sport Austria.

The centre-back has featured 11 times for Leeds and managed one clean sheet in their league win over Southampton.

On his move to the Premier League, the Austria international explained: “Of course it’s a difference to Salzburg, where you know that you can take the three points in at least 90% of the games.

“Now every weekend is a full fighting game, anyone can win against anyone. You can tell that there is insane pressure and that the club’s existence is at stake. It’s definitely the toughest league I’ve played in so far. Every game feels like a Champions League game in terms of intensity. You have to be alert every second, otherwise it will rattle at the back.”
