Diego Costa is set to undergo a medical with Wolverhampton Wanderers this evening before signing his contract at Molineux.

That’s according to Gianluca di Marzio, who say Wolves are pushing ahead with a move after the Spaniard was granted a work permit.

Wolves have been left scrambling to find a new striker despite the window being closed after Raul Jimenez and new signing Sasa Kalajdzic were both ruled out through injury.

They quickly set their sights on Costa, who has been a free agent since January, but faced difficulties when it appeared an application for a work permit would be rejected.

However, Wolves have now received the okay from the UK government, which has granted the former Chelsea and Atlético Madrid striker a visa for this season.

The striker is now closing on his move and ‘will undergo medical examinations already this evening’.

If all goes well, it is expected he will then sign his one-year deal and start work on getting fit to fill the gap left behind by Jimenez and Kalajdzic at Wolves.
