The past couple of days have been nothing short of a rollercoaster when it comes to the Arsenal exit of Nicolas Pépé.

The Ivory Coast international was reportedly very close to a deal to Trabzonspor earlier on in the day, with it then claimed in Turkey the player had terminated his contract with the Gunners to facilitate a move to the Süper Lig club.

However, RMC Sport in France refute that via their journalist Fabrice Hawkins, who took to Twitter to reveal what he had learned.

His information is very different to the one in Turkey, as he claims Arsenal are ‘asking for €4-5m’ to let the forward go.

That would suggest his contract has not been terminated, but he does back up that negotiations with Trabzonspor are ‘advanced’.

He also mentioned that two Saudi clubs, whose transfer window closes on Thursday night, are also interested but ‘lag behind’.

In fact, Hawkins even goes as far as saying that Pépé has not yet given the green light to the move to Trabzonspor, but his ‘definitive answer is expected soon’.

Now, we must point out that a few days ago, the French media were claiming that the Arsenal player was close to a move to Besiktas, which was immediately refuted in Turkey, with reports stating the Istanbul side denied their interest in the winger directly to journalists added to suggestions this was all being driven by the Gunners man’s agent.

Fast forward a few days, and the Besiktas story has long been forgotten, now replaced by Trabzonspor, with more disagreement between claims in France and those in Turkey.

We have a feeling a similar situation is taking place, with Turkish journalist receiving different information than their French counterparts, likely from very different sources, creating a lot of confusion in reports.
