Throughout Jose Mourinho’s time with Manchester United, the club were repeatedly linked with a move for Willian.

The manager had previously worked with the Brazilian at Chelsea, and it was thought he’d value the player’s experience at Old Trafford.

Nothing ever came of it, and with Willian available on a free transfer this summer he’s been linked with Mourinho again, this time for a move to Tottenham Hotspur, and again, also with Manchester United.

France Football claim to have some information on this route, stating ‘contacts have been established’ for the potential transfer. Presumably those contacts would be with Kia Joorabchian, who is trying to find a new home for his client.

It’s again stated the Premier League club would value Willian’s experience, and the opportunity to sign him for nothing is seen as a ‘windfall’ transfer this summer.

Willian is 31 years of age, and turns 32 in August. He’s thought to be looking for a three year contract, which would take him close to his 35 birthday. Perhaps if there was a desperate search for a right wing player, if Jadon Sancho and other options failed, then it may make some sense.

But right now it feels more like Joorabchian making the effort, rather than Manchester United.
