Back in early January, a story emerged on ESPN FC that Manchester City had managed to convince two Paris Saint-Germain youngsters to sign for the club, and quite a few other outlets picked it up.

Dan-Axel Zagadou and Mickaël Cuisance, both 17, were said to have accepted the contracts offered by the Premier League side after Pep Guardiola had spoken to both of them during a visit of Manchester City’s training ground.

The next day, TF1 journalist Julien Maynard took to Twitter to rubbish part of the story, claiming that Zagadou hadn’t signed a deal with the Citizens, as well as ‘never meeting Guardiola’.

That was the last we’d heard of the story, with no confirmation of either version of the facts, but France Football on Tuesday have brought it back from the dead and add to the confusion by mixing the two previous versions of this story together.

The French magazine claim that while Dan-Axel Zagadou had visited Manchester City’s facilities, and met Guardiola, the young defender had yet to agree anything with the English club, as his contract with Paris Saint-Germain runs out in June 2017.

As for Cuisance, the midfielder has also been offered a contract, but, like his teammate, hasn’t said yes either.

France Football explain Cuisance is still ‘hesitating’, which we can only assume is the same for Zagadou considering he remains a Paris Saint-Germain player.

An approach from Manchester City for these two players certainly fits Guardiola’s approach of bringing in young talented players for him to develop for the future, and it wouldn’t be surprising if he had indeed targeted the pair.

As for the outcome of this, it’s just going to be a matter of wait and see as they decide whether or not moving to England so early in their career is the right thing for them to do.
