Following reports from the English media this week claiming Benfica are interested in signing Fabio Carvalho from Liverpool, the Portuguese media even made a little coverage of it, and never confirmed the rumours.

This is the kind of story which would get huge attention from the Lisbon press in case it was true, but didn’t get more than a few short articles.

It turns out that as newspaper Record writes about the Liverpool midfielder today, they claim that chase is actually not true.

The outlet writes that Carvalho is ‘out of the plans’ at Benfica, who are moving for other targets this summer.

It’s claimed that with him not having a place in Liverpool’s squad, he’s more likely to move to the other destinations listed by the English press, which are RB Leipzig, Brighton & Hove Albion, Union Berlin and Fulham.

Fabio Carvalho joined the Reds on a €5.9m move from the Craven Cottage side last summer.

In his first season at Anfield, though, he only had 244 minutes played in 21 appearances, and should indeed get some experience somewhere else.
