Salernitana’s chase for Leeds United fullback Leo Fuhr Hjelde may look like a bit of a soap opera by now, but there’s still big belief the pursuit is on.

Outlet TuttoSalernitana today feature a story about the club’s chase for a left-back, and the 20-year-old continues to be the first name to get a mention.

This time, it’s said that Salernitana’s contacts with Leeds for the transfer have ‘never stopped’.

The website claims that the clubs are set to talk again in the ‘last days of the transfer market’. Should the Serie A side fail to seal the signing, then they’re going for other ’emergency’ options.

The rumours linking Hjelde to Salernitana have been going on since June, and the Italian club seem to be struggling to meet Leeds United’s demands for the transfer.

It’s been many times said that the Whites are interested in letting the fullback go, and even though their demand of €2m doesn’t sound like a lot, the Serie A club have been trying other ways, such as a loan with an option to buy.
