With Gonzalo Montiel forgotten at Nottingham Forest lately, rumours from Argentina claimed that River Plate were interested in his signing.

The fullback belongs to Sevilla, who reportedly don’t want him either, and that would give the Buenos Aires side a chance to have him back.

It turns out that as Maxi Pugliese gathers some reports on Twitter, he shows that River Plate should not have big chances to sign the Nottingham Forest man.

It started with journalist Hernan Castillo claiming that, at least for now, Gonzalo Montiel would not go to the Argentine club.

That was then backed up by ESPN reporter Gustavo Yarroch, who said the transfer is difficult because the player’s priority is to say in Europe.

Now it remains to be seen whether Montiel will find a club who wants him in Europe so he can get a January move.

The fullback hasn’t played for Nottingham Forest since October, so it would be absolutely no surprise to see them letting him go, but maybe Sevilla will want to have sorted another destination before they bring him back from his loan.
